Due to the presence of major developers, publishers along with being the home to some of the best schools for game development - the Bay Area has a rich indie game community. However, they too often try to promote their work at major conventions while ignoring the local ones. This is a look at why indie studios should take advantage of local fan conventions as a means to promote their game instead of gambling at the hopes of getting noticed at a major convention.
